We learned about evergreen trees and deciduous trees in school last week. Alanna started a nature journal and we took a nature walk to see how many of each tree we could find in our neighborhood. Alanna was thrilled to find these two pine cones. One was still sealed shut with it's seeds inside and the other was completely open with all the seeds gone. It is so much fun to read about something in our house and then go outside and see them with our eyes too!!

Homeschool Update:
We officially finished our math book #1!! HOORAY! Alanna was so proud of herself! She has worked really hard and according to the government's "Common Core standards for Kindergarten", she is already doing first grade math! We have just started book #2.
This girl loves math.
We celebrated with a scoop of ice cream!

Second Tooth Gone:
She was super excited!! The Tooth Fairy brought her a dollar bill folded into a heart. This may be her trademark from now on. =) She also left her a trail of pennies, nickels, and dimes that she got to count the next morning. That is what we have been working on in math! That TF is a smart one.
But there is only enough space for one adult tooth to come in. =(
Orthodontist here we come....

Recycled Percussion:
Because Cie-J is a veteran, we are able to go and see some Las Vegas shows for free. One that is offered to veterans is Recycled Percussion. They won the show "America's Got Talent" several years ago and have traveled the world ever since. They've just recently opened a show on the strip.
As you enter the theater, they give everyone a drum stick and a pot or pan or bowl to bang on. This was Alanna's favorite part! They also give out ear plugs. That was Cie-J's favorite part. HAHA! This show was LOUD!!!!
These guys are AWESOME and had a really entertaining show! They beat all kinds of things and make music from it. There was never a dull moment. Or a quiet one. Did I mention it was loud???
This guy gave a shout out to his grandmother who had just passed away, and played a solo of sorts in her honor. It was a really sweet moment. She was the one that bought his first drum set.
We had such a blast and are SO THANKFUL to shows like this one that donate tickets to veterans!
