Friday Funnies:

A lot of the information I have been reading about potty training says to let your little one run around naked.

Hmmm...I am a stay at home mom, so that sounded easy enough.  No problem.

PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!

(Sometimes I forget that Alanna is still really young for this whole potty training business)

She pee pee'd in the potty and we did the happy dance, washed up, ate our cookie, and shut the bathroom door.  Done!

NOT DONE!!!!!!!
I went in the kitchen to tell Cie-J of her accomplishment when I see her coming towards me with a hand full of poo poo!

SHE POOPED ON THE CARPET!!!!!!!

And not only did she poop on the carpet, but she was bringing it to me to show me!

Now, in her defense, the door to the bathroom was shut and she did go right outside the doorway; so I think she had the right idea and just couldn't get in there to do it.

Lesson learned: I will continue to use the cloth diapers instead of letting Alanna run around naked.

The Cutest Thing:

Alanna just loves her dog, Asha.
They have been friends from the beginning.
Asha is VERY protective of her.

She loves to give many hugs and kisses to Asha.
I mean like hundreds a day.
(all grandma's reading this will be very jealous)
The problem is...Asha usually sees the hugs coming and runs way from her.

Today Alanna learned how to call Asha over to her.
She says "Asha, come!" but it sounds more like "Ah ha tum!"  Seriously, the cutest thing ever!
Daddy gave Alanna some treats to hold so that Asha would want to come when she was called.
And it worked!
All Alanna has to do is say the magic words and hold our her hands and Asha comes running.

By tomorrow, the dog may need a time out just to have some time away from Alanna!

What I love Wednesday:

Seeing old friends.
I love that we can just pick up where we left off.

Talking about memories from old times together.
Laughing.
Laughing A LOT!

We stayed up way past our bedtimes.
Fun stuff.
I hope it's not another 5 years before we see each other again.

Pics to follow...

"Mao", our very special friend:

Alanna's favorite thing in the world right now is her kitty.  She sleeps with her, takes her to the doctor, takes her to get adjusted at the chiropractor, and makes daddy and I kiss her goodnight when they go to bed.

She used to be a little gray kitty, but Alanna threw up on her and we had to put that one to sleep.
Now she is a pretty black kitty.

Alanna can't say "meow",  instead she says "mao"
We love it.  It's so cute.

Her dad made up this funny little story about Mao and sent it to me by email.  I thought I would share it...here's what he said.

I finally put two and two together...there's a spy in the house from....CHINA!
Yes it's MAO the kitty.  I thought it was just Alanna saying meow wrong, however she's too smart to be wrong.  The cat's real name must be MAO, and it confirms my fears.  The other day I saw MAO sitting on the toy box and for some reason all of her other stuffed animals were in a line towards the trash can!

HAHA! He's a funny guy...that man I married.

Monkey Monday:
I asked Alanna if she wanted her kitty binky or the purple one and she replied "BOTH!"

Friday Funnies:

Alanna is just starting the potty training journey.
I suspect that some of my Friday Funnies over the next 6 months will be about bathroom humor.
Just bear with me, ok?

So, yesterday, Alanna poo poo'd in the potty for the first time ever.  I was SOOO proud of her!
I danced and sang and stomped around for her.
It was a HUGE party.  So got a "nandy".  Candy.
Sorry you missed it.

Anyway, she soon realized that going potty gets her a reward.  So she sits down, goes, and then jumps up and says "all done" in her cute little voice.
Then she says "nandy!"

SOOOO....fast forward a few hours and we are back in the bathroom on the potty.  Bless her heart, she tries every single time even if she doesn't have to go.
So this time she sits down, toots, jumps up and says "Yay!! Nandy!!"

I guess she technically 'put' something in the potty...
so she got a 'nandy'.
I'm such a push over.  A toot push over.

Thoughts for Thursday:

Alanna saw a chihuahua on T.V. and started meowing.
It was really really funny.

That's all for today.

What I love Wednesday:

I love that Alanna is talking more and more everyday.
Seriously y'all (I can say this word because I live in Texas again) , she talks from the moment she wakes up until the moment she falls asleep again at night.

She's a jabber jaws!
I have NO IDEA where she could have gotten it from either.  Her dad's a man of few words and I'm just so quiet too.  Who knows...

Here is a list of her newest words:

 nack = snack
cak-uh = cracker
bwew = blueberries
gock = sock
guck = duck
dipa = diaper
mow = more

Cie-J and I have set our goals for 2011.  Instead of trying to set goals for the entire year, we decided to break it up a little and use Alanna's birthday as the midway point in 2011.  Ladies and gentlemen (actually, I don't think any guys read this blog...but anyway)
HERE THEY ARE!!!
1. Get a babysitter and go on a date once a month.

2. Give a complement to each other every day.
3. Successfully get rid of ALL binkies in our house!

4. Be more intentional about keeping in touch with family and friends.  Calling or emailing with them at least once a week.
5. Give away more money in 2011 than we did in 2010.

I am really excited about all of these except #3.
I am so nervous about breaking Alanna from a binky.
Her "dee dee" is her best friend.
At least we have until August, right?!?
Smaller, personal goals to come later...

Friday Funnies...

Once upon a recent trip to the chiropractor...

Dr. Ben came in the room and was talking to Alanna to try to keep her from being afraid of him.
He asked her where her nose was, but she ended up pointing at mine instead.
Dr. Ben just decided to go with it.
Next he asked where mommy's mouth was.
She quickly pointed to it as well.
He then said, "do you know where your mouth is?"
Alanna pointed to her mouth and blew him a kiss.
Such a sweet girl.

Lastly, he says, "Alanna, where is your belly button?"
She proudly lifted her shirt and showed hers off.
She looked at me, but I was tightly holding my shirt down so Dr. Ben would not get a peek at my belly button.

Instead, little miss Alanna outsmarted me and went for the top of my shirt and proudly pulled it down
and said "OOBIES!"
AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did my chiropractor really just see my bra?!?

We no longer practice finding our "oobies" at home and you can me DARN SURE we won't discuss the name of the nether region any time soon either!!

Have a great day.

Monkey Monday:

Alanna was straightening her hair with my flat iron.
(it was off just in case you were wondering)

Thankful Thursday...

On our little excursion to Dallas, Alanna and I got to stop and see some college friends of mine.

First up were Jon, Amber, and Jovie Reeves.
Amber was my college roommate for all 4 years.
The school randomly put us together as freshman and we were perfect for each other from the start!

She had a little girl named Jovie about 10 weeks before Alanna was born.  This was their first time to meet each other.  SUPER special for us!

Jovie is such a cutie.  She and Alanna had a lot of fun mimicking each other and taking drinks at the same time.  So fun!  I will not wait as long next time to get together with them.  Love you Reeves family!!

Next we got to go and spend the whole day with Baileigh!  She was never a roommate in college but she was definitely one of my besties.  This is girl is so much fun to be around.
Next time I will know how to get to her house and won't get lost.

It was SO GREAT to get to see my besties again.
I love these girls.
We can always pick up right where we left off.

I'm so glad we live in the same state again!!

What I love Wednesday...

Today the BEST thing happened!

GROUPON started carrying coupons for my city!!!!
What is groupon you ask?

Well, go to groupon.com and type in your city.  They have all kinds of coupons bought at a group discount for different places in your city.  Restaurants, stores, salons, etc.
My sister in law got an amazing deal on lazer hair removal and teeth whitening on groupon.

I have been pouting since Christmas that the groupon website didn't service my city.

BUT ALL THAT CHANGED TODAY!
I got an email saying they were starting in San Angelo soon!  YAY!!!

Go sign up.  It's free.  You get a different coupon emailed to you each day.  You do not have to buy it if you don't want to.  But if you do, you better hurry because they go fast!

Ready, set.....GO!!!
P.S. You can thank me later.  I will leave you with a cute picture of my little red head.

Troubles for Tuesday...

We had a near tragedy at our house last night!!!

One of Alanna's earrings came out!
AHHHH!
The good news is...we found it and after about six screaming, wiggling, hold her down tries...
WE GOT IT BACK IN!
WHEW!!!

I felt so bad for her though.
It took both Cie-J and I to fix it.
Poor baby.

And it was ALL MY FAULT TOO!
I accidentally got it caught in her shirt while taking it off for a bath.
I KNOW!!!
That's terrible right?!?
I felt SOOOOOOOO bad.

Thankfully this story has a good ending.
Alanna still has two cute earrings and all is well.

Something about "new"...

There is just something about "new" that we all like.
You know, new appliances, new cars, a new house.
New is good.  I love new.
Don't get me wrong though.  I love a good bargain as much as the next mom.
In fact, I own several things that are gently used.
I would say that 75% of Alanna's wardrobe is from a resale shop.
Most of the things we buy (besides food of course) in our house is typically gently used.
I love craigslist!

But new....

I love the end of December because I know a new year is coming.

A new year to start over.  To forget all the things that did or didn't happen in 2010 and move forward to the new things that will happen in 2011.

2010 is now the past.  Leave it there.
We can't change it anyway.

The pastor at our church just said recently that he thinks 2011 will be our best year yet.
I think I agree with him.

I am ready for a good year!  How about you?!?

P.S. I have been working on our 2011 goals and have decided that making goals for an entire year is WAY too much for me.  The only way for me to accomplish something is one small bit at a time.  So....I have decided to break it up by the seasons instead.  Look for "Spring Goals" coming up next week.

P.S. #2  Just because I can't help myself, and because my child is adorably adorable.  I will leave you with a picture.
Texting her friends...

What I love Wednesday...

I love that my little girl loves to be a girly girl.
She even wants to wear her shoes in the bathtub.
(I just love the diaper and shoes combo)

I love that she "helps" me put my make-up on.

But the thing that I love the very most...

Is that her daddy lets her put make-up on him too!
Such a good daddy!!

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

We finally did it!

We finally decided to get Alanna's ears pierced.
We chose these cute little crystal daisies.

Daddy was so afraid for her.
I just didn't want to see her sad or hurt.
Nana and Papa were there too.

But she surprised us all!
She didn't even flinch!  No tears, no hint of pain.

She was SO PROUD of herself.
She looked in the mirror and pointed at her new earrings and said "cute!"
Such a brave big girl!!

P.S. Please excuse my lack of make-up and hair fixing.
We kinda decided to go and do this on a last minute whim.
