Friday Funnies:

Last week we were in the doctors office (for the millionth time) and had been waiting in the waiting room for over an hour and a half.

Alanna was getting bored and started fussing.
I quickly reached in the diaper bag for the binky (I know, I know) and put it in her mouth.

Just a few seconds later she yawned really big and it fell out and on to the floor.  She looked at me, looked at the binky, and then yelled out "oh crap!"

Yes, that's right...in a crowded waiting room, my 18 month old daughter yelled a baby cuss word.
Awesome.

I got all kinds of disapproving looks but the mom across from me just busting out laughing.  I couldn't help but laugh too.

By the way...she gets it from her daddy. =)

Happy Birthday to my mom, Alanna's Nana.
It's kinda weird...the older I get, the more I realize how much I am just like my mom. =)

One of my favorite memories of being a kid is when my mom would come and pick us up after school, my brother and I would start singing in the car "Friday, Mama took us for a treat!" over and over and that would encourage her to take us to DQ for a dipped cone!  It usually worked.  Even if it wasn't a Friday.

Love ya mom!

I won't tell how old you are on the world wide web but I WILL say that you are now "two nickels" old.
HAHA!

This top one is "daddy"...

And this is one of me...

Who do YOU think she looks like?

Monkey Monday: Alanna's first ER visit...

Waiting in the ER to see the doctor.

Her temp was 104.2, that's why she's naked and she's all red looking.  Her lips look like they have lipstick on them. Poor baby. =(

She is still not well and my blogs will be determined by how she is feeling at the moment.  Yesterday her temp went up to 105.1.  Talk about FREAKING out!!!

Thanks for all of your prayers friends and family.
We really appreciate them!

Sorry...

I will be taking a blogging hiatus until my baby gets better.

No sleep + cranky baby = yucky days.

What I love Wednesday:

I love looking in the rear view mirror of the car and seeing this...
Not only is it the cutest little head in the world (and boots!), but it's also the safest little head in the world.

We have chosen to leave Alanna rear facing in her car seat until she is at least two and possibly longer.  Her car seat allows for rear facing up to 40lbs

It is 100% safer to keep your child rear facing because in the event of an accident, they have a much less chance of being injured.
Most babies get internally decapitated in car accidents because their little spine and brain stem are still too flexible and can't take the force of whip lash.

Extended rear facing (or ERF) is something I am very passionate about and something I am hoping to spread the word about.  Most people just know the 1 and 20 rule and don't know there is another choice, a safer choice.

You can learn more about ERF at:

Toys and Stuff:

Sometimes I am amazed at how Alanna can already role play so well at just 18 months.
Her imagination is so big.

She makes the "gulp gulp" sound when she is drinking from a pretend cup in her little kitchen.  She also knows how to make coffee in her pretend coffee maker.  I guess she sees me do it every morning so I shouldn't be surprised.
It's just amazing to me how much she imitates what she sees on a daily basis.

Yesterday, she got a bath toy and pretended to roll it under her armpits like deodorant!

We bought her a toy doctor kit and she knows what each instrument is for and what to do with it.
She even tells us to say "ahhhhh".
I get anywhere from 10-20 shots a day now.  Maybe letting her pretend like this means she won't be so afraid at the doctors office next time.
Our last visit was VERY traumatic.

For Valentine's Day we gave her a princess dress up kit.  The little shoes have just a tiny heel on them and she put them on and started walking like she had been doing it all her life.
I think her favorite part was the jewelry.
She wanted to wear it to bed but this mean old mom wouldn't let her.
My favorite part was when she wanted the dog to wear the tiara!  HAHA!
That poor dog has to put up with a lot these days.
Who needs a sibling when you have a dog that lets you dress her up?!?

Monkey Monday:

When I ask Alanna to smile, this is what I get.
She does this cheesy, not real, smile.
It cracks me up.  She does it EVERY time.

Here she is doing it again.

We got this balloon at lunch today and the child was nuts over it.  She seriously held on to it all day long.  She even wanted it over her crib while she napped.
I don't know what we will do when it pops.

All she needs for her second birthday is a bunch of balloons.  It entertained her the whole rest of the day.

Friday Funnies:

Along with learning to pee pee in the potty, Alanna is also learning to get the toilet paper and wipe after she is done.  (yay for me!)

It brings her great joy to spin the roll and take way too many sheets.  We are working on that part.  Any stay at home mom knows that the little ones like to be in the bathroom with you when you go as well.  There is no such thing as 'privacy' for a mom.  Well, my little helper always wants to assist me, but I assure her that mommy can do it on her own.

Last week I was making breakfast and Alanna was playing in her playroom, when I suddenly realize it was too quiet in the house.  I look into the playroom to find Alanna with two baby wipes, lifting Asha's tail and wiping her bottom!!!!

Such a good helper.

Thursday Randomness:

1.  I have a snuggie and I love it.
2. Alanna told the dog to "tit" today. (sit)  I spit out my drink and laughed out loud.

3. I have a new recipe that I can't wait to try.  It's an Irish desert.

4. The Iphone is now $49.  Kinda makes me want one.

5. Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least 6 feet (2 m) away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.  Did you know this?  Do you do this?

I told you at the top that this would be random. =)

What I love Wednesday:

#1 - I love the dumb ABC show "The Bachelor". Every season I say that I'm not going to watch it anymore but then I do, and get sucked in and then I cannot stop watching. It's like a train wreck of ridiculousness. And, I love it. Sorry. In all actuality, I hate the concept and lack of morals portrayed on the show. Every week it reminds me of how blessed I am to have such a great guy.

#2 - I love my job as a stay at home mom, but I'm ready for a vacation. I love the mountains and can't wait to get back to them some day.  Cie-J and I haven't taken a real vacation since our honeymoon.  I'm ready.  But big vacations take big money.  Sigh.

#3 - I love that Alanna is growing up.  She loves to talk and sing and dance.  She is just the cutest thing.  But, there is a fine line between wanting your child to grow and thrive and wanting them to stay tiny forever. Some days, I miss the tiny part.

"Frog Go Pee Pee" and the Cookies:

Cie-J invented the cutest game for Alanna last night in the bathtub.  It's called "Frog Go Pee Pee."
Basically, he took a little rubber frog (think rubber ducky style) and squeezed it to fill it up with water.
Then he would say those magic words and make the frog squirt all over her tummy.
She thought this was HYSTERICAL!!!

We got a super cute video of it but I'm not really one to post naked pics of my child on the world wide web.  Sorry.  Just trust me...it was cute.

On another note...I have been able to avoid the cute little girl scouts at the Wal-Mart entrance for several weeks in a row now.  It's SO hard, but I've been good.
THEN...one of the moms in my mom's club sends out a plea email saying that they ordered too many cookies and they need to sell them quickly.
What's a good mom/friend to do?

My double chin got really excited and told me to order a box for hubby and two boxes for me!!

I told her to hush and reminded her that we have a high school reunion coming up!!

Monkey Monday:

Alanna got into my purse and got my lipstick.
She also loves to walk around in my shoes.

It makes me realize just how much she looks up to me and wants to be like me.  And although she still has a ways to go to fill my shoes.  It looks like I have the biggest shoes to fill.  A role model.
P.S. Sorry for the lack of "Friday Funnies" last week.  She was still too sick and any alone time I got was spent sleeping or in the shower.

Throw Up Thursday:

Yippee!!
The throw up bug has come to my house again!
(insert sarcasm here)

I had this beautiful post about motherhood and all the magical duties that go along with it for today, but that all went out the window when my daughter started blowing chunks.

Check back for it next week instead.  It's some good thoughts that I really wanted to write down and share with you.

But I must give props to my wonderful husband before I go.  He was on his hands and knees picking out chunky chicken and raspberries from our thick berber rug. Ewww!!!

I hate throw up.  I hate the smell.
I just want to throw all of our pj's and clothes and blankets and towels that got soaked in it away.
Blech!

Let's just hope that hubby and I don't get it this time too.  But at least we know how to aim for the bowl.
It's the little things...you know?!?

P.S. In the middle of all the fiasco, I watched "Minute To Win It" with the 5 Bishop kids and I REALLY REALLY was rooting for them to win.  I mean $500,000 is not too bad, but they deserved the million for sure.  They were so sweet and precious.

What I love Wednesday:

I just found this blog a couple of days ago.
I love this girl!

Every day she posts a picture of the outfit she wears.
I just love her scarf collection!!
And she also posts the price of each item and they are cheap!  Very very doable fashion on a budget.

Check her out.

Random Tuesday:

Firstly, Happy Birthday to my friend April in Arkansas!

Secondly, Alanna asked me for a "pee-yo".  Seriously, my one and a half year old wants a pillow?  At what age do you give a child a pillow anyway?

And thirdly, we signed up for Parents Night Out at our church!!  I am super excited!  A date night!
I remember working all those PNO's and taking care of the kids.  I had NO IDEA just how important those nights were to the parents.
And it's only $4!!  Cheapest babysitter ever!
YAY!!!
Lastly, I must show you how much attitude my little one has.  She put her hands on her hips and turned away from me when I asked her if she needed to go potty.  Oh my.
If it's not HER idea, then she doesn't need to go.
