I Finally Figured it Out:

Alanna has been saying "butt" a lot lately and I couldn't figure out what in the world she was trying to say.  We don't say "butt" in our house in the "butthead" or "get your butt in here" way, so I knew it had to be something else.

I would say "Alanna, what would you like for lunch" and she would answer "butt."  Okaaaaay.  Or I would ask her if she wanted to read and book, and again she would answer with "butt."  This word was driving me crazy.  WHAT was she saying?

And then, yesterday, she was saying something to me and I didn't catch all of it so I asked her "what?"
She immediately repeated after me "butt?"
THAT'S IT!

BUTT = WHAT

HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

And just because I haven't posted a picture in a few days and I know you are just dying to see how much she's changed, here ya go.

Yes, that is a smile while wearing bows.  We are making progess.

The Rosie has been Rung - A LOT:

Two days ago we taught Alanna the song "Ring Around the Rosie" and she LOVES it!!  I think her favorite part was that her daddy and I would hold her hands and then we would all fall down together.  The first several times were really cute and and she had the biggest smile.  Around the 15th time or so, we were starting to get worn out.  (But it's really hard to say no when she grabs your finger and says "Mommy, up.  More, pwwwwease!!!")

Eventually, I looked Alanna right in the eyes and held up one finger and told her "Alanna, we will do it one more time and then we are all done."  She said "ok mommy."   So we get to the "ashes ashes, all fall down" part and we all fall down and laugh and then Alanna crawls over to me, looks me straight in the eyes, with one little finger up, and says "Mommy, one more time...PWEASE?"  Oh boy.

After another million times of playing, we finally pooped out.  Alanna decided to play by her self.  She'd sing "winga winga winga winga, DOWN!!" then go and look at herself in the mirror and hold up one finger and say "one more time."

We haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Darn you marketers:

I have recently noticed how smart marketers are with putting characters on boxes.  OF COURSE the children will beg their parents to buy them, even if they don't like what's in the boxToday we saw a package of prunes with Got-Gah on them!  Prunes, really?!?

And of course these items are at perfect eye level with the child in the cart.  Smart move.  I counted at least 6 things today with the Disney characters on them and well over 15 with other characters.
It's funny because Alanna wanted prunes, which she's tried and spit out.  She wanted yogurt, but she can't have cow's milk.  She saw fruit roll-ups, but we don't give her high fructose corn syrup. And to top it all off, the line we checked out in had a HUGE Mickey balloon above the magazines!  None of these things she really wanted, it was just the Got-Gah on it that she wanted!  Well, maybe the balloon...

And P.S. I though the begging didn't start until like 3 or so?!?  So as of today, the grocery run just became like 100 times harder to do.

Darn you marketers, darn you!

P.S Someone gave Alanna a Mickey Mouse watch and when I ripped the package open to get the watch out, Alanna was heartbroken that it ripped the picture of Mickey.  She carried around that darn piece of trash for a good 4 hours.  Oh my.

More Matoes!:

So today, I go and pick Alanna up from her class and the first thing out of her mouth is "Mommy, more tomatoes, please!"  Actually, it was more like "Mommy, muh matoes, PWEEEEEEEASE!"

No "Hi Mommy" or "Love you" or anything.
Just tomatoes.

She seriously LOVES those things!  The problem was...I didn't have anymore tomatoes.  So I offered her goldfish crackers instead and she kissed them and said "my crack-oos."

She's a funny girl.

Then....we go to the health food store and the nice lady offers her a free sucker while we were checking out.  Before I could respectfully decline, Alanna had her hand out and said "Yes Pwease."  She totally understood what the lady was saying and took advantage of the opportunity!

Please excuse the awful cell phone photo.

By the time we got home, her hair was standing straight up and was super sticky.  So were her hands, legs, arms, and feet.
(She takes her shoes off in the car.  Every time.)

Why can't the stores offer a piece of cheese, or a peach, or a box of raisins?!?
Probably because it's no fun giving away healthy stuff and that would take all the fun out of it for the kids I suppose.

(Gosh, I just thought about her trying to eat a peach in the back seat of the car and the subsequent mess it would create and decided that the sucker may not have been so bad after all!)

P.S. For anyone that cares, that sucker was 100% organic and sweetened with agave nectar.  We don't do real sugar 'round these parts. <----my Texas accent coming out.  LOL!  Man, the people that didn't read the P.S. down here really missed out.

Fun and Random Facts about Alanna:

1. When we are grocery shopping and get anywhere close to the milk, she will start mooing.  How she knows to do this is beyond me.  She doesn't drink the stuff.

2. Alanna LOVES to carry Got-Gah and Minnie around by their tails.  They make good handles.

3. Alanna had 15 small tomatoes for dinner last night.  No joke!  She also had chicken, pineapple, and some lettuce.

4.  Alanna just now starting sleeping through the night at 18 months old.  Don't be jealous.

5. Someone asked her today how old she was and she said "one, two, three."

6.  Alanna is a sleep talker!!  Two days ago, it was probably around midnight, and she yelled out "crack-oo." (that's cracker)  I went in to tell her that she could not eat that late and she was snoring.

Hooray for Hair:

The good news is, we finally have enough hair to
put in pony tails!!!  YAY!

The bad news is, she HATES wearing them!!!

This adorable bow was ripped out about 2 seconds after this picture was taken.

Got Gah goes shopping:

Yes, it looks like she is mad or pouting but really she just has a mouthful of goldfish crackers!
(notice the bowl of them in the cart)

Got Gah still goes with us just about everywhere.  Thank goodness the grocery story cart had two seats!  I'm thinking Alanna's love of Got Gah is turning into an obsession!

A lot of people stopped us while shopping, to discuss our friend in the cart and the checker even pretended to talk to him too.  Alanna LOVES it when they do this.

I'm going to try to get a video on here of her actually saying his name so you can hear it.  It's just the cutest thing!!

Friday Funnies: BUM!

Last weekend we were in H.E.B. shopping and it was really crowded.  REALLY crowded.

I was trying to hurry and zip through the isles because I don't like the feeling of being closed in.  I had stopped and was reaching for salsa, when a lady zoomed in beside me and stood on her tippy toes and reached up for the same thing. (she was kind of bent over too)

Alanna saw her opportunity and smacked the lady's rear and yelled "BUM!" just as loud and proud as she could!  OH! MY! GOODNESS!!

I do this, sometimes, at home to her when she is walking by me or has it in my face.  ME tapping her little bum at home is totally ok, I am her mom.  HER doing it to a stranger at the grocery store is NOT ok.  But how do I get that through to a one year old?!?

Anywho, the lady was really very nice about the whole thing and got a kick out of it.  She said is was the most action she'd had in a long time. =)

The Flat, the French Fry, and the FAIL:

FLAT: A couple of days ago I was shopping at Lowe's and when I got done, I came out to a car with a flat tire.  Not just a little flat either, it was sitting on the rim and the tire had a gaping hole in it.

Clearly some type of random vandalism.  Awesome.

FRENCH FRY: Thankfully we were next door to Wal-Mart.  I called a wrecker and then walked over to Wal-Mart to pick out a new tire.

They said it would take two hours.  Awesome.

It also happened to be lunch time and my child was quickly getting cranky and hungry.  There is a McDonald's in the back of our Wal-Mart but Alanna has never had it before and I'm not the biggest fan either.

But I clearly didn't have much choice.  Awesome.

As you can tell from the picture above, Alanna was introduced to her first french fry and ketchup.
To say she loved it is an understatement!  She kept licking the ketchup and saying "yum!"

FAIL: I felt so bad for giving her crap for lunch but it was all I could do.  And guess what...she's still alive.
I guess it wasn't the worst thing in the world.  So maybe it's a WIN!

We got the tire fixed in only an hour, my child was fed and happy, and I found a present for my hubby while I was walking around Wal-Mart.  Hmmm...I still won't be getting any mother of the year awards any time soon, but what could have been a bad day ended up being not so bad after all.

What I love Wednesday:

Our mall has this play area that is just for little kids.
It's an all soft play area and the kids have to take their shoes off.  Seriously, the carpet is like bouncy it's so thick.  If you look on the right top side you can see the booth type seating that goes
all the way around it.  There is only one entrance and exit.

The little bridge to the left of Alanna is her favorite thing.  It's a little slide that she can get on and go down all by herself.  I love this place because it's inside and safe and fun.  Big kids can't run her over like the other play areas and the equipment is little kid friendly and doesn't get super scorching hot like at the park.

We come here at least once a week for our Mom's Club playgroup.
I love it!

Got-Gaw Gets Dinner:

Got-Gah goes with us everywhere!
The nice lady at IHOP totally made Alanna's day when she brought over a booster seat
for him and acted like she was taking his order when she took ours.  SO CUTE!!
Alanna scooted the chair as close as it would get to hers and kept
one had on him for 90% of the time.

She SERIOUSLY loves Got-Gah.

On a different note:  Her hair totally has a mind of it's own!  I can brush it, wet it, etc and it still develops those wings on the side!!  Sometimes I think people look at me like I should brush my poor child's hair.  I just call it her 'wild Alanna hair."

Monkey Monday: Got-Gah AND Minnie!!

If you read my blog last week, you'll know why this was a HUGE thing for Alanna.
I mean...look at that smile!
We found them in Walgreens and couldn't leave the store without them.

Friday Funnies:

A couple of days ago Alanna was playing in the living room, when she noticed her shadow on the wall next to her.  I didn't say anything, I just watched.

She would raise one arm and then the other.  Then she would wave.  Next she started marching back and forth against the wall.  All of sudden she stopped and said "no no" really loud.  She kept marching and then looked back to see if her shadow was following.  It was; so she again said "no no."  Again she looked back and that darn shadow was following her again.

She came to me crying, but all I could do was laugh.

Watch out for those mean shadows.

Got-Gah

Got-Gah is how Alanna says "hotdog."

"Hotdog" is the word she says for Mickey Mouse because he says hotdog all the time and does the hotdog dance.  I don't know...it just works.

Alanna LOVES Got-Gah and she has a steady date with him every morning at 8am on Disney Junior while mommy makes eggs.  Everyday.

She is mesmerized and doesn't leave this spot until it's over.  She has even learned to count to five and can recognize several of her colors because of Got-Gah.

So I don't feel bad one bit about letting her watch it.
Okay, maybe ONE bit but definitely not two.

She even waves to him at the end and says "bye bye Got-Gah".  It's the cutest thing!  Bless her little heart. (we say that in Texas a lot.  Lots of hearts get blessed down here.)

What I love Wednesday:

1. When Alanna grabs my neck and hugs really really tight and says "uv you mommy." (I could cry just typing it)

2. Bare Minerals natural lip gloss in 7 layer cake
The perfect light pink without being too pinky. And it tastes good. And it smells good.  And it's natural! (I'm a little obsessed)

3.When my hair has been in a pony tail most of the day, but then I let it down, and the pleasant scent of my shampoo suddenly surrounds me. (pomegranate)

4. Making a good dinner after making a series of flops. Reminds me that I am actually good at it.

5. Parenthesis (obviously)  =)

Field Trip:

Today we took a field trip with our Mom's Club.
We loaded up and went to the local fire station.
I wasn't sure if Alanna was really old enough to get what it was all about but let me just tell you, this girl was right up there with all the boys!
She loved the place!
And just like her mom, she had to touch EVERYTHING!

One of the nice firemen let Alanna hold his hat.  She would not look at me and would only look at him.  He told her that she was cute and that she had "fire red" hair.  =)

At one point during the tour, Alanna got down like this and looked under the fire truck.  She then stood up and yelled "YUCK!"
It was super funny and we all laughed.
No idea what was so gross under there but I wasn't gonna get down there and find out.  LOL!

Silly girl.

They dressed up in their full gear for us and then passed out these adorable fire hats to all the kids.
Alanna left hers on and didn't want to take it off.
(and doesn't she just look teeny compared to that huge tire?!?)

I also learned something really interesting while I was there; the firemen leave their pants and jacket out like this so that they can literally jump into them while they are getting into the truck.

She was VERY concerned for this "guy" and kept saying "uh oh mommy."  I told her it was a dummy and she instantly repeated "dummy!"  Oh great...I should have thought that over a little longer.

Monkey Monday:

We'd been in the house all day long,
Alanna would not leave my side.

So off to park we went together, her first time
to swing and slide!

Friday Funnies: Minis

1. Alanna had all of her stuffed animals lined up in the playroom and we were talking about how they all had tails.  She squatted down, looked between her legs, and said "Lanna's tail???"  I told her we don't have tails. =)

2. Yesterday Alanna sneezed several times while I was holding her.  I was wearing a tank top.  Hours later I was making dinner and discovered snotty boogers in my bra.  Awesome.

3.  Alanna's new favorite thing to do is "eat like a puppy" off her highchair tray.  I admit, I laugh at it when I probably shouldn't.  It's just so funny.

New words:

Here are some new words that I can add to Alanna's list of words she says daily.  I have stopped counting how many words she knows and can say because she talks non stop now!

1. Peent = pink (I am pretty sure this is her fav color!)

2. Fort = fork

3. Poon = Spoon

4.  Mik = Milk

5. ehpant = elephant

She is not only saying new words daily, but she is also talking in short phrases now too.  It's the cutest thing.
1. More please Mommy.

2. Where it at?

3. Ah ha, down.  or Ah ha, no no. (Asha...the dog)

4. My daddy/mommy/gee gee  (lots of words have "my" before it now)

5. Brrrr, cold.

6. Go, go, hurry, hurry.
I call this picture her 'crooked grin'.  She does this ALL THE TIME now when she sees the camera.

What I love Wednesday:

This face.  I laugh out loud every time I see it.

This daddy/daughter moment.

This outfit.  She looks so grown up.

This smile.
