***My post for yesterday didn't save, and thusly didn't post...so I will have to rewrite it another time.***

Alanna's Potty Chart:

We took Alanna to the Dollar Store and let her pick out her very own big girl stickers.  This was a fabulous idea because now she can't wait to put them on her chart!

Tonight, I told her she was just one sticker away from reaching the star and that when she reached the star, we get to go shopping for a prize.

She was VERY excited and started thinking about what she wanted as a prize.  First she said "book" with her little thumb up.  This made her daddy VERY proud.  But then she quickly added "and purse, and lion hat ROAAAAAAR!"  Oh my.  I can't even make this stuff up.  She is just so funny.
Where do I go to find a lion hat?!?

YAY, POO POO: (caution - May be TMI...stop reading if this title grosses you out!)

We have had a potty chair since Alanna was 13 months old.  I've just always let her decide if and when to use it.  Never pushing her to go.

I did try one weekend to do the "bottomless" thing and we just ended up with a power struggle and wet carpet.  I knew she just wasn't quite ready.
I've always heard to let your child decide when they are ready to potty train, so I've been pretty casual about the potty ever since the 'no diaper weekend.'

Well, yesterday Alanna came to me and said "potty mommy!"  As long as it is HER idea she always goes.  We ran to the bathroom and sure enough she went!  We always have a small parade with marching, dancing, treats, and stickers when she potties.  It's pretty comical.  We usually have to call someone too.
(whatever works!)

She must have enjoyed the attention because exactly 30 minutes after her poo poo success, she told me she needed to go again.  I didn't believe her until she said it a second and third time.  Bless her little heart, she sat there and turned beet red trying to go again.  She finally got something the size of a pebble out but we celebrated all over again.   Success is success, right?!?

I only had to change one wet diaper yesterday and the rest of the day she went on her potty! YAY!  Could it be that she is finally ready?!?   I don't want to celebrate too quickly, as this could be a short little phase.  But I'm hoping this is the beginning of our end with diapers!  YIPPEE!
**However.......after she poo poo'd on the potty the first time, and we danced and marched.....she promptly ran to her daddy's closed and peed in it. =/
Just keep your fingers crossed for us.

Eating her popsicle after a potty success!
(she looks SOO much like her daddy in this pic!)

Monkey Monday:

 Helping with laundry.
She actually does a great job and is a big help to me.

Friday Funnies:

Alanna and I were at HEB grocery shopping and as we were walking out the exit, a group of men and women in uniform passed by us.
She looked straight at them, pointed, and yelled out "march, march, march!!!"

Thankfully they thought it was hilarious and wanted her to say it again.  I told them that she would salute them too and she did!  It was super cute.

They thought she was the funniest thing in the world. I told them they could thank her daddy for that.

Oh yeah, and while we were in the store at the deli counter, Alanna was unbuttoning her shirt (and I didn't notice until it was already done) and opened it up and said "look, boobies" to the deli lady.  Great.

Have a nice weekend!

Christmas in June:

A couple of nights ago, Alanna insisted that she wear her 'bog' (frog) pajamas.  I was in shock because every night she chooses her Minnie jammies.

The problem, is that the frog jammies are heavy duty flannel and it's one hundred million degrees in Texas.  Most nights it gets down to 99* by 9pm and around 90* (if we are lucky)by midnight.

These are NOT summer jammies.

Plus, they have frogs with Santa hats on them and little snow men next to them.  And snowflakes.
Oh I how miss the snowflakes of Nebraska right about now.  But being the ever cool mama that I am, I let her wear the 'bog' jammies.

Even if they are a little out of season.

FUNNY FUNNY GIRL;

So I know it's not Friday yet, but Alanna was just too funny today that I have to write about it.

She was being a little toot this morning so I had the fly swatter (AKA "the spanker") laying on the couch as a reminder for her to obey.

When I went to get a load of towels out of the dryer, Alanna grabbed the fly swatter and put a blanket over it.  She then came to me and said "Mommy, SHHHHHH!  Spanker is sleeping."

HAHA!  So creative that girl!  I guess that was one way to get rid of it!

Look at that cheesy smile!

"Mommy, more yips pease":

Alanna has discovered that I carry chap stick in my purse.  She calls it "yips" or lips.
I let her use it one time and now she asks for it everyday!  She thinks it needs to go from cheek to cheek.
When she is done, she smiles and says "Yook mommy, Yanna pity!"
She is really becoming a girly girl.  She loves all things pink, and sparkly, and cute.  She asks me every day if we can go shopping.  Yesterday she asked me if she could spin around.  I said yes, but then she ran to her room and pointed to her closet.  I finally understood that she wanted to wear a dress.  So, I put one on her and she went to the living room and spun around for a good 15 minutes.  It was so cute.  She stopped every few seconds to look at herself in the mirror.  I was sad I didn't get any pictures though.

The birthday count down is on!

Alanna's World:

The scary thing is...I have NO CLUE when she took these and how she got my camera in the first place!

Friday Funnies:

Last night Alanna woke up in the middle of the night and called out for me.  I usually let her fuss for a few minutes to make sure she isn't sleepy talking, but this time it grew louder and louder, so I knew she was really awake.

When I got to her room, she was sitting up on her bed and said "mommy, all done night night.  Couch please."  I told her it was still night time and that we could not go and sit on the couch.  She grabbed Mao and said "okaaaaaaay" and laid back down.  Then she sat straight up and said "Cracker?"

That girl.  What am I gonna do with her?
Even at 1 1/2 she is looking for ways to get out of bed. Little stinker.

She insisted on wearing a 'neck-is' to church.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Yummy Coconut Bar:

We found these AMAZING coconut bars that are organic, gluten free, and covered in dark chocolate.  THEY ARE DIVINE!!

I think they taste just like a mounds candy bar.
(but A LOT healthier)

Alanna has just discovered that she loves them and asks for them as a snack almost every day after her nap.  The problem is, that it melts in her hand.

I told her to lick her fingers off and she looked at my like I had lost my mind!  HAHA!

Then I asked her if it was good and this next picture is what I got.  I think she liked it.

No Mama, Toot:

There are several words that Alanna says that have dual meanings.  She gets super frustrated if I don't understand what she is saying after the second or third time.

Here's an example...
'TOOT' means the actual meaning "toot"

But it also means "cute" too.  And I am supposed to know the difference when she is saying it.

Here is a conversation that happened two days ago:
Alanna: "Mommy, toot."
Me: "Oh, did you toot?"
Alanna: "No mommy....toot."
Me: "Do you need to sit on the potty?"
Alanna: "NO MOMMY....TOOT!"
Me: "Do I need to change your diaper?"
Alanna: "NO NO NOOOO MOMMY!"

Ah, I finally got it.  She was telling me something was cute.  Context is VERY important.

She also says "beep" for the word burp and for the word grape.  Sometimes I ask her what she wants for a snack several times just so I can hear her say it again.  It's so cute.
Also, tonight she grabbed her purse and headed to the door.  She looked at me and said "come on mommy."  I asked her where we were going and she said "shopping."  I asked where and she said "wal-mart."

Summer Time Fun:

We bought a small blow up pool for Alanna, but it's big enough that all three of us can get in.  So far, we've gone swimming every single day since we bought it!  It's a great way to beat the 104 degree heat here in Texas and it's just plain fun.

Look at little miss drama queen up there!  HAHA!
I said "smile for a picture Alanna" and she bent backward like that and said "NOOOOO Pich-ah."

She just looked too cute in her little swim suit.  Whenever I change her diaper she begs for me to put on the swim diaper instead.  This girl LOVES to swim.  She just doesn't understand why the dog can't get in the pool with us. Oh my....that would be a HUGE disaster not to mention mess.

Friday Funnies:

I am the Mickey Mouse artist in the family.  It's not that good, but she always asks for me to draw him and she always recognizes him.  Yay me.
One night, Cie-J and I were playing outside with Alanna and the side walk chalk when we decided to have a contest.  "Who was the better artist."

Soooo...I drew Elmo...I thought it was pretty good.
...and so did Cie-J.
She called MINE a frog and HIS Elmo.
WHAT?!?!

So we tried again.  We decided to draw the dog.
Here is what mine looked like.  Again, not too bad if I say so myself.
And here is Cie-J's.
She called mine a pig and his the dog!!

I TOTALLY think he rigged this contest and bribed Alanna!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to the best mom, mother-in-law, and Mamaw!!!  Enjoy your day off and hope you have fun.

From Baby to Big Girl:

Last week, Alanna discovered that she could climb out of her crib.  I had put her to bed and she came back out about 5 minutes later.  It was the weirdest thing to see her coming out of her room at night by herself.  I almost had to look twice.

She said "mommy, bonk" and held her head.  We knew then and there that it was time for the crib to go, but I didn't want to.  I put her back to bed and the next morning when I went to get her she had one leg already over the side!  It was time.
We took the front rail off of her crib that night and she went bonkers!  She jumped and squealed and thought it was the coolest thing.
SEE?!?  Her feet are off the mattress!  HAHA!

We tried her bed this way for a very short time, but she kept rolling out of bed.  Now we just have her mattress on the floor as we wait for her big girl bed to be delivered!!  So exciting.

Good bye cute bumper and bedding.
Good bye crib.

I thought I would be super sad to see her crib go.  I had visions of crying and sobbing in the middle of her floor.  Thankfully, that didn't happen.

We have a big girl bed, big girl bedding, and all kinds of fun stuff coming soon!  Although I am a bit sad to see it all go, I am loving this new stage in our lives.
Pictures will come soon!
