DISNEY Heaven:

It's not shock to anyone that knows Alanna, that she LOVES Mickey and Minnie.
(or Gat Gah as she still calls him)

We went to visit "Gunkle and Jess" this weekend in Dallas and in their mall is a Disney Store.
Oh. My. Word.

Alanna gasped when we walked inside.  Bless her little heart, she was completely overwhelmed and didn't know where to look first.  We took her to the Minnie section and quickly found some sunglasses, a dinner plate, and a cup with a straw.  When we checked out, we got her a Minnie bag to put it all in.  She was in Disney Heaven! (and can I just say that it was ALL on sale and we got all of that for under $12!  Not bad for a trademark brand!!)  Thanks Nana and Papa!

A little later, we went to Babies R Us and found a cute little Minnie dress-up costume.  Papa got that for her too. It is safe to say that Alanna was totally Minnied out this weekend!!

Pics to come...gotta get back to laundry...I may need a vacation after my vacation!

Okay, that's enough...no more bow!

Friday Funnies:

Any time Alanna toots she says "Uh oh, toot!  Cue me." (cue = excuse)

She always seems to yell this at the worst time though...like in church, the check out line at the grocery store, and on the chiropractor's table.

At least she is being polite and saying excuse me.
This girl keeps us laughing all the time!

Whenever I have to spank her, (yes, we spank) she always tries to distract me.  She'll say "mommy my nose" or "time to potty" so she won't get a spanking.
That's pretty smart!

This last week, I was going to get the spanker (a fly swatter) and she said "Mommy...BOO!  Haha!"  I have to admit it was really hard not to laugh.

1, 2, 3, Awwwwwww:

Alanna ALWAYS sleeps with "Mao" and her "pee-yo."  She holds him tight (I don't know why, but we've assigned a gender to Mao) like this and I just love it.

Just recently she has started asking me to put a blanky on her and tuck her in.  So cute.

Yes, that is a binky you see in her mouth.  She still gets it at night only.  I'm hoping to have it completely gone by her 2nd birthday.  I'm just gonna have to do it cold turkey and I'm not looking forward to it!  UGH!

And yes, she is still in her crib.  I don't see a need to change it if it still works for her.  She loves her crib and I am not ready to have her mobile at night just yet.  LOL!

Making Daddy Beautiful:

Alanna loves to 'help' me when I put make-up on.  She watches every single detail and knows what each thing is for and how it works.  She then runs over to daddy and shows him how to do it.
This photo cracks me up.  She knew just what to do with the eyelash curler.  Cie-J is such a team player too.  He lets Alanna 'pretty him up.'

The Prettiest Flower:

A friend of mine made Alanna this adorably cute towel.  She loves it.  When I wrapped her up in it, she looked in the mirror and said "cute flower."

Next she is making her a girl dinosaur with horns, a bow, and teeth.  Sounds weird but it's gonna be SO CUTE!!!  I can't wait!

Monday Funnies:

Last week Alanna was sick with pneumonia again (actually, she is still sick this week too but not near as bad) so I pre-loaded my blog with stuff to update and didn't get to post the Friday Funnies.

SO........

Last week we were at the Dr's office, and you know how the wait is at those places, LOOOOOONG.

I had to go to the bathroom but kept telling myself to just hold it and wait, and go when I get home.
(I have an aversion to public bathrooms but that's a WHOLE other post)  The nurse had called us back but we had been waiting almost 30 minutes in that little room and had not seen the doctor yet.

So finally, I opened the door and told the nurse that I REALLY had to go and couldn't hold it.  She smiled and said I could come around to the secret 'nurse only' bathroom at the nurse's station.  NICE!  That means it wasn't so public.

I go in, do my business (with Alanna with me of course) and while we were heading back to our room, Alanna looks at all the nurses standing there (about 8 or 9) and yells "MOMMY GO POO POO!!!!"

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Thanks Alanna.  Lovely.

I ran back to our room without making any eye contact with the nurses.  I bet that's the LAST time they offer the secret bathroom to anyone.

Pioneer Woman:

Yesterday I made my own homemade and completely organic lotion.  I felt so domestic and slightly pioneerish. (<-----new word)

Now let me just say, this was SUPER easy, took all of 15 minutes, and smells and feels divine!!!

I am kinda mad that I didn't take pictures of the process to show, but I was having so much fun that I didn't want to stop!  And what scent did I choose for my first attempt at lotion you ask???  Frankincense! How cool is that?  Where else can you find frankincense lotion with a little bit of eucalyptus?  Oh that's right...MY HOUSE!!
YUM!  So fresh and invigorating!

True story...my husband tried out this lotion after I made it and then cracked himself up by saying he smelled like the "three kings".  Get it?  Gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  He's such a comedian.

Homemade organic skin care is my new hobby.  I LOVE IT!! I will eventually venture into shampoo, body wash, and soaps.  I already make my own dishwasher and laundry detergent and this lotion was the next step into making my own things at home.

If you are a close friend or family member, you will probably be getting some homemade goodies for Christmas this year!
P.S. Please pay no attention to our little pharmacy in the background.  We take LOTS of supplements. =)

The Writing On The Wall:

Alanna was happily coloring in her coloring book on the coffee table this afternoon, so I decided to sneak into the kitchen for a glass of water.

NO BIGGIE...
Well, seriously, just one glass of water later, this is what I come back to!

Alanna said "BLUE!" and pointed to it, but my face must have looked less than pleased because she quickly changed her tune to "UH OH MOMMY" and pointed to her drawing.

I guess I'm 'officially' the mom of a toddler now since I've scrubbed crayon off my walls (doors).

Could it be possible that we are getting this "terrible twos" thing out of our system early and instead we could have the "terrific twos"?!?

NO?  Well, I can dream can't I?!?

COCO WHEATS:

"Coco wheats" is a hot cereal like oatmeal or cream of wheat, but it's chocolate flavored.
I was introduced to the warm bowl of deliciousness when I met my husband's family.
Now our little monkey LOVES the stuff.
And she is so proud of herself when she uses her spoon.  We end up with quite a mess, but I don't mind.  She's still learning.
And it's cute to see the coco wheats mustache.

Rainbow:

LOOK at this adorable rainbow dress that I got for Alanna!!
We could not get through the grocery store because millions of people kept stopping us to tell us how cute her dress was and how pretty her red hair was.

(For the record, I agree.)
And did you notice that she could NOT look away from Got-Gah for this picture?!?

We are officially planning a Minnie birthday party for her in August.

Sailor Girl and Mother's Day:

I just love this little dress on her. She looks so grown up.  LOTS of people commented at church and lunch.
Nana picked it out for her.  I don't know why, but she always squints when she smiles.  And you can totally tell she is saying cheese too.  SO FUNNY!

This is our second Mother's Day picture.  I love it.

Pioneer Days:

San Angelo has "Pioneer Days" as a weekend event each year.  They have lots of old time things on display, reenactments, animals, and native plants for sale. It was very interesting and we ended up buying two plants.
True to form, Alanna didn't care one thing about this old stage coach and yelled "dog" and barked instead!

They had several big steers there and one that the kids could sit on and get pictures with.  Alanna wanted to sit on it when we asked her, but then QUICKLY changed her mind and said "No, down, down!"
She was content to pet it instead.  She also Moo'd at it really loudly. =)

It REALLY cracked her up every time the sheep would baa.  Like loud giggles and snorting.  We got to see one get it's hair shaved off too.  Sorry for the butt shot.  It's all I could get.

We also got to see a cow being milked.  Of course Alanna said "yuck!"  Who knows what her little one year old mind was thinking.
Lastly, we got to see some horses.  Alanna thought they were cows and was mooing.  Such a fun day.

Bounce, Bounce, Duck:

Alanna went to her first birthday party for a friend.
She had a blast!!!

They had this blow up bouncy house and it was also a first for Alanna.  She was not scared at all and immediately wanted to go in.
(the child has NO fear)

She spent the majority of her time in there on her bum and falling down.  It was hysterical to see her trying to bounce.  She doesn't have enough weight of her own to make it bounce, so she just ended up walking like a duck.  SO FUNNY!

It was a great party and we had a ton of fun.
We may just have to rent one of these things for Alanna's birthday in August.
