Alanna's Got A Badge:

This girl just cracks me up.  Today I had to go to the police station to pay for a ticket. (Hey, I didn't know it was an active school zone. AND I am able to do defensive driving since I have no tickets on my record.)  The police officer at the door was really nice and Alanna quickly shouted "He looks like Papaw Salt!"  The guy thought it was so cute and totally played the papaw part.  He went and got her a little plastic badge and said she could be a helper.  She was THRILLED!

THEN....

She told him "If mommy drives too fast, a police man will stop her and give her a ticket!"  Somehow the voice a 2 year old is supremely louder than a station full of people.  Many people were laughing.  She also said that "red light means stop."  The guy was impressed and asked her what the green light means.  She replied "green light means go."  He commented at how smart she was and then asked if she knew what the yellow light means.  She quickly said "GO FASTER!!!!"

Uh oh....

Ribbons!!!

Recently, Alanna has decided that she wants nothing to do with carrots.  She used to love them but now she thinks she hates them.  So....
I shave them down into really thin 'ribbons'.
Then I put some butter in a skillet and give them a quick toss.  It takes like 30 seconds to cook these babies and they are super delicious!  SCORE!!

But as far as Alanna knows, we eat 'ribbons' for dinner and not carrots.  Shhhhhh....

Chores...Fun?

Daddy was unloading the dishwasher and Alanna BEGGED to help.  She has been wanting to help for some time, so we decided it was time to let her learn.
I put the silverware drawer down in a lower drawer and (after getting all the knives and scary things out) I let her go to town.  SHE LOVED IT!!!  She did such a great job putting each thing where where it went.
I was so proud of her and she was so proud of herself too!  I put the camera away and turned around to hug her and then discovered she had reloaded the dishwasher with every piece of the silverware.

Good first try I guess. ;)

Tuesday Funnies:

(yeah, yeah, I know...it's not Friday, but these things happen ALL THE TIME and I forget about them by the time Friday rolls around.)

#1 - As I'm getting dressed, Alanna comes in my room and says "Oh, mommy your naked!!"  I told her that I was, but that I was getting dressed.  She asked what I was putting on (my bra) and I asked her if she remembered what it was called.  She thought for a second and then said "Oh yeah!  A boobie sack!!"  I almost wet my pants laughing so hard.

#2 - Alanna has started to really fight nap time.  The only time she falls asleep is if we are driving.  Yesterday I was so frustrated that I ended up loading her up and driving around for a good 15 minutes.  She talked for the first 10 and then got pretty quiet.  I thought she was almost asleep, but then yelled out "Mommy, where are we going????"  So much for that idea.

#3 - As I'm putting Alanna to bed, she pats my head and says "Mommy, can I call you "talks a lot" cause you do talks A LOT!!!  (there is a robot on disney channel called 'dance a lot' and I'm pretty sure she got her idea from him.  Either way I was cracking up!)

Curly Sue:

Alanna and I went to visit Nana and Papa last weekend and of course Papa wanted to mess with Alanna's hair.  She doesn't have much, but she has enough to play with. He decided to try and straighten it.
(on super low of course)
She stood up there so still and and so big.  She loves to get her hair done by Papa!  That day we learned two very important things.

#1...Alanna's hair grows SO weird.  A long rat tail in the back and super short on top.
#2...We prefer our girl with her natural curly hair!!

POO POOS? NO!:

My Uncle Joe (Alanna calls him "Gunkle Doe") invited us out to dinner while we were in Arkansas.  I told him I was craving a pupusa, so that's what we had!  YUM!!

Uncle Joe asked Alanna if she wanted to go and eat pupusas with us and she got this crazy look on her face and said "poo poo's? NO!!!!!"  It was hysterical!  We had to explain to her that pupusas were a food and not 'poo poo' like she was thinking.

The pupusas were GREAT, but come to find out, Alanna LOVED the chips and salsa!  She ate the whole first basket of chips they brought to us and a good amount of the second one.

The next day, she was telling everyone that she had 'pusas" with Gunkle Doe.  It was a fun time.

I have been out of town and completely neglected my blog while I was gone.
Things will resume as normal tomorrow...stay tuned!

SNOW DAY!!!!

Very rarely do we get snow in West Texas.  But about 7pm yesterday, it started snowing these big huge beautiful flakes!  Alanna couldn't wait to wake up the next morning and play in it!  She said she wanted to make a snowman.
So the next morning we bundled up and went out side!
Alanna insisted on wearing her boots!  HA!
For anyone else besides Texans, this looks like a pretty wimpy snow, but for us this is A LOT!!!

First, daddy showed Alanna how to roll the snow around to make a ball.

We started our baby snowman and had plans to make a baby, a mommy, and a daddy snowman.

Tah-dah!  Here it is.  Alanna's first snowman!

We started to make the other snowmen, but soon realized that #1 we didn't have enough snow (HA!) and #2 we were REALLY cold (Alanna took her mittens off!) and we needed some hot cocoa!

Alanna goes topless:

Of course I'm talking about her convertible.

She loves this thing.  The problem is....she knows how to hit the gas but she has no idea how to steer!!  So one of us has to run next to her and make sure she doesn't run into a tree or the street.

We got this from a friend that was PCSing and didn't want to drag it with them.  SWEET!

Friday Funnies:

1.  While in the car yesterday Alanna yells "Ewww...I smell a toot!  Mommy did it!!"  I said that I didn't and asked her if SHE did it.  She said "Yep, it was me!"

2.  As I'm driving, Alanna says "mommy let's go up that mountain!" I quickly look around and then remember (duh) I live in San Angelo and there are no mountains. Again she says, "mommy, let's go up that mountain!" I told her there were no mountains but she insisted. I asked her to show me the mountain and she points to the Coors Light truck that we are following.

3.  While in the doctor's office, Alanna sees a chart of different types of pollen and mold and allergens in the air.  She loudly says "look at all the moles on that picture!"

4.  And speaking of moles, her daddy told her that he has a 'barking mole' and when she looks at it or touches it (on his arm) he barks at her.  She loves it.  Thinks it's hysterical.  The nurse comes in yesterday at her appointment and she has a mole on her nose.  YEP, you guess it...she points and says "you have a barking mole!!!"

5.  While using a public restroom at the mall (Alanna had already pottied and it was my turn) she loudly praises me for going pee pee.  Nice.  Then she loudly says "And mommy, do you need to poo poo too?"  I whisper 'no' and can hear ladies in the neighboring stalls snickering.  Then she says "well, can you make a toot?"  (She obviously hears that a lot)  I quickly whisper that I was done and didn't need to poo poo or toot.  THEN....she says "mommy, why do you have hair right there on your bottom?"  AHHHHH!!!  I can hear full on laughter in the women's bathroom at this point.  I just wanted to stay in that stall all day and not come out.

This child keeps me rolling on a daily basis.

While Mommy's Away:

I had gotten ready and left for the morning and daddy was keeping Alanna at home.  He was in the kitchen and she was "watching a movie in the living room" so the story goes.  He says she was being SO GOOD and SO QUIET that he just kept doing what he was doing.  He didn't hear a peep out of her the whole time!

When he finally checked on her, she was in mommy's make-up box and was helping herself.  When I came home, she said "Mommy, I put mascara on my eyebrows!"  She was so proud of herself.

Happy Birthday Jesus:

Instead of making cookies for Santa and putting out stuff for reindeer, we had a Happy Birthday Jesus party!  Not that there's anything wrong with the latter, we just don't really do it.  Anywho...

 We blew horns!
Y'all, this was hysterical!  Alanna couldn't blow hard enough to make it toot, so she'd blow and squeal in her mouth at the same time to make the sound.  It was hysterical!  She tried over and over and over.  We laughed pretty hard.
We made cupcakes and had candles.
The plates and napkins even said "Happy Birthday Jesus" on them. I even blew up balloons and had streamers.  I think this will become a tradition for sure.  Even though Alanna REALLY wanted it to be HER birthday, she was okay with letting it be for Jesus.  (She still tells me that she wants her Minnie Party back.)

Mamaw's In Da House, er, Fort:

As soon as Alanna found out that Mamaw was coming for a visit, she started creating an agenda in her mind of all the things they would be doing together..

First thing on the list, she was 100% sure that Mamaw would get in her fort with her.  Second was that Mamaw would sleep in her bed with her.  And third, was that she would swing and slide outside with

I told Alanna that Mamaw would have her own bed and that she most likely wouldn't be getting in her fort with her.  Guys, this is a computer box.  Not a spacious, fun play house.  A BOX.  And Mamaw is claustrophobic to boot!  I kept telling Alanna that I didn't think Mamaw would get in her fort with her, just so she would be prepared.

After we picked Mamaw up from the airport and came home, I walked into the playroom and found this:

HAHAHA!!  Sure enough, Alanna had talked Mamaw into getting inside her fort!!  I had to run and get my camera for a picture.  I peeked inside the tiny window on the side and saw a bunch of smiles.  Alanna was THRILLED that Mamaw was in her fort, and I secretly think Mamaw was just as thrilled to be in there with her. ;)
Thanks Mamaw for making her dreams come true. =)

This little red head has now gotten Nana in her tent and Mamaw in her fort.  I'm thinking she might have some sort of grandma super power.
