At the zoo...Alanna and her friends said that this monkey was "doing" Jesus on the cross. Made me laugh for a long time. Then when he jumped down and ran away, she yelled "Hey look, he has a tongue hanging down from his bottom! YIKES!! I wasn't ready to address that! Haha.
We went to visit some friends that had just gotten a German Shepherd puppy. He's still under a year old, but he's already a good 70lbs. Alanna was cautious around him but didn't have much fear. When she tried to pet him, he got really excited and jumped up on her and knocked her over. =( Alanna went down and hit her face on some wood and split her chin up really badly. Her gums and teeth were bleeding too.
Later that night in the bathtub she told me that she is a tough girl and that she would be fine and that she also forgave Hunter because he was just a puppy and didn't mean to hurt her.
She is getting so big so quickly. We are closer to four now than we are to three. She uses SUCH big words and completely understands everything we say. Sometimes when we spell things, she figures it out too!! I bought a book to teach her how to read but I'm not sure when to start it. I don't want her to be completely bored in kindergarten, but she wants to read so badly. I'm weighing my options...
The other day at the grocery store, she held my list and helped me find each thing that we needed. As I put each thing in the cart, she would say "check!" When we were done, she said "Mom, you forgot something!" I asked what it was and she said "granilla honor." I asked her what that was and she said "Mom, I have no idea, you wrote it! I'm just reading!" HAHA! That stinker.
Alanna's great grandma sent her some ridiculously huge house shoes that I honestly thought she would not be a fan of. Turns out, I was wrong. We opened the box and she yelled "DOG PAWS! Now I can match Asha!!!!" She was super excited. Then she put them on and ran over to the dog and then I took this picture. Cute.
Logan is 2.5 and Alanna is 3.5, but they had a total blast together. They Mickey Mouse as a common interest, so they bonded quickly. Oh, and Penny. Penny is Logan's dog.
Logan's parents invited us over for dinner and to play Rock Band. Cie-J and I used to spend hours playing this game before we had Alanna. Turns out, the kids ended up playing and doing a great job! Molly is 10.5 months old and sang and slobbered all over the microphone. Logan did great on the guitar and Alanna LOVED the drums! (We had it on no fail. That means they could play and play and never fail)
A couple of nights ago, we were praying before bed and Alanna said "Jesus please help me to keep my voice in my throat sometimes so I won't say mean things to my friends." (She had told a friend earlier that day, that if she came to our house that our dog would bite her.)
While I was working the last 8 weeks, Alanna got to attend a private preschool. She walked right in there like she'd been going forever and her teacher says she didn't skip a beat. I didn't expect anything less.
This is Mrs. Coffey.
When we first met her, I was a little worried. She's fairly stern and runs a tight ship. She has been fantastic and we will miss her dearly. Alanna had become a teacher's pet - always wanting to help her.
Alanna asked me to get a picture of her when she found out that she was done with preschool. (I just covered for a girl on maternity leave.) She asked me to make a book of her preschool teacher and friends so that she could look at them and remember them with her tears of joy. Isn't that the sweetest thing?
I asked her how she knew about tears of joy, and she said that her daddy told her about them when he was reading the Bible to her. Mary had tears of joy when she found out that Jesus was no longer in the tomb.
Awww. <3 This is one of those stories that I want to remember forever.
Alanna got to pick one thing from Dollar Tree. Instead of a toy or glow stick or stickers or a book, she chose bandaids. I guess in some way she still got stickers. =) Haha. She was thrilled!
Now all of her "friends" have owies. She makes up her own owies so that she can have a bandaid. Yesterday at MOPS, she insisted that she needed a bandaid for her finger. While playing outside, she fell and scraped her elbow. She immediately took the bandaid off her finger and put it on her elbow. In the car she said, "Mom, good thing I had that bandaid!!"
When Alanna woke up Sunday morning, she ran to find her Easter basket. Of course the dog was there to help out. She got some new Tinkerbell silverware...
Two 'My Little Ponies' - Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy. Ponies are her new thing. She obsessed with their sparkly hair...
And Madagascar 3! She loves this movie and calls it "Dah Dah Dah Dah Circus". She asked if she could hurry and watch it before we had to take it back to the gas station. (Redbox) When I told her she could keep it and watch it and NOT have to take it back to the gas station, she stood up and jumped and said "thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!"
Alanna could paint for hours. This paper with the paint already on it is GENIUS! Just add water.
We saw a HUGE python yawn at the Nature Center and it was amazing. It literally could swallow a child whole. Thi s snake ismake-you-pee-your-pants big. It's poop alone was the size of a chihuahua! You're welcome for that visual. =D
