Friday Funnies

Alanna loves her "zoos" and "boofs", shoes and boots.
She wants to wear them ALL THE TIME.

She will bring them to me at all times of the day and ask for them to be put on.
Yesterday we got some new shoes in the mail.  As soon as I opened them she said "Awww...cute!"

So...come bed time...she wanted her "zoos" on.  Since I'm a go-with-the-flow mom, I of course let her wear her "zoos" to bed.
(I took them off after she fell asleep.)

How cute is she with these ruby red slippers and her pajamas?!?!?
Something Super:  Nana and Papa are on their way today!!
Something Rotten:  I have to pack my whole house this weekend.  YUCK!

Thoughts for Thursday...

Now I get it!

I totally understand why parents don't get to sleep for the first six months (or more!) of their newborn's life.

It's because they grow SO fast and if you sleep you will miss it all.  See....
I had this.  She was tiny and smushy and cute and little.    ( I can say smushy cause it's MY blog.)

But then I started sleeping through the night and suddenly I have THIS...

Where did the time go???  I think all this sleeping is making the time fly faster!

She can recognize 4 colors, knows about 50 words, can sign around 10 words, and she has 12 teeth!

Good gracious...she was just born a few months ago, right?!?  RIGHT?!?

I am going to try to pin my eyelids back tonight so I won't sleep.  I want to try to be awake forever.  She is just growing WAY too fast and I'm afraid we will be rushing her down the aisle before I know it.  EEK!

I must stop this.  It's insanity.

I think for now we will just continue trying to master the fork and spoon.

Something Super:  A good friend of mine is about to have her baby girl.  I can't wait to meet you Sophia!
Something Rotten:  My dog's breath.  WOW.

"What I love Wednesday"

The Brown household has been sick.
I know, don't be jealous.

So I thought I would share some things I can't live without when my family is sick.
First up...Elderberry Syrup.
Take this at the onset of symptoms and you will be well in no time.  Serious.

The second thing I love is good old hydrogen peroxide.  It kills everything.  Everything!

Put three drops in your ears.  Let it fizz up.  Then pour it out.  You will kill all the gross bacteria in your ears.  Did you know that 90% of infections start in the ear canal?!?  You're welcome.

Lastly, I can't live without Emergen-C.
Not only is it delicious, but it's good for you.

Because of these things and a good chiropractor, my family is feeling better.
YAY!
Something Super:  My birthday is this weekend!
Something Rotten:  Audrina left DWTS.  I liked her.  Boo.

Tasty Tuesday...

You MUST try this.  It's delish.

Alright, For This Banana Bread Recipe You Will Need:

- 4-5 mashed bananas (use ripe ones)
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar (or less if you can't see your toes)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (I used applesauce)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

Set your oven to 350*.  Spray your pan with PAM or it will stick!

First add sugar, oil (applesauce), and eggs and then start mixing so the sugar melts. Then add mashed bananas and mix some more. When it looks good and mixed up, it is time to add all the dry ingredients - flour, salt, vanilla, and baking powder and mix some more. You should get a nice and very thick banana bread batter.

Bake for one hour or so.

You can check if it's done by sticking a toothpick or a knife or something (not your fingers) in your banana bread and if it comes out clean (not all sticky and dirty with batter), you are finished.

You can thank me later.  (or the people at banana bread recipe.com)
Something Super:  Warm cider.  I love Autumn.
Something Rotten:  Two people in my house have colds.

Monkey Monday

YES...THAT IS WHAT YOU THINK IT IS!!!!!!

Ok...So I'm breaking my own rules again.  I cannot leave this one wordless.  It demands an explanation.
Alanna took off her pants and diaper and contents of diaper during her nap time.
I thought she was being awfully quiet so I went in to check.
I was shocked!

I just LOVE how she looks like she's been cornered by her poo.  =)  I also love that she is holding her binky as she is telling me "uh oh".  Yes baby, BIG uh oh.  YUCK!
Something Super:  Nana and Papa come to visit in three more sleeps!!
Something Rotten:  Do I even have to type this one???  (see above post)

Friday Funnies...

Yesterday I was at the grocery store and we had been shopping for a little over an hour.  Alanna was at her limit.  She was tired and starting to become cranky.
(If you are reading this and do not have children, you are probably thinking "my kids will not act like this in the store."  JUST WAIT!  I promise you they will!!)
She got mad because I would not let her hug the bananas and started screaming.

A middle aged man approached us and starting talking to her.  He was trying very hard to get her to stop crying.  He said "Hey there little guy, what's wrong with you?  You sure are a handsome little man."  LITTLE MAN?!?  REALLY?!?  She had a purple shirt with a pink butterfly on it and brown and pink sparkly shoes.

WOW!

I looked at him with disbelief and a said "She's a girl."  He said, "well, she's still a handsome girl."  Umm?  Is that a complement???

All I could do was laugh.

Something Super: Got invited to TWO chili cook outs this weekend!  YUM!
Something Rotten: Hubby is sick.

Thursday Thoughts...

A Few Halloween Plans

1. Celebrate my day of birth.
2. Dress Monkey up as a cute little butterfly.
3. Eat a chocolate pie. (see #1)

A Few Christmas Things in October

1. I already have my decorations ready to put up.
2.  I already have two gifts bought.
3. It's very unlikely that I will get snow for Christmas this year.  Sad sad day.

SO....hurry up Halloween and pass on by.  I'm not too big on turning a year older and I don't like candy.
Something Super:  8 more sleeps and my parents come to visit!!!!!
Something Rotten:  We found evidence of a mouse in our house.  EEK!

WHY WHY WHY Wednesday!!

Why oh why won't my child go to sleep?!?
She WILL NOT go to bed at night anymore without a huge fight.
Isn't this supposed to come around the terrible twos or threes?!?
She signs to me that she wants a drink.
Then she signs that she wants food.
Then she says "mow mama" meaning 'more food'.
But is she really hungry or is this just a tactic to stay awake?  AHHH!
One hundred points to the person that can email me and tell my WHY!
Ok.  Rant over.
I will leave you with a blurry picture of Monkey holding her dog and kitty.
She loves them.

Something Super:  It's MOPS day...YAY!!
Something Rotten:  No more Teen Mom....Boo.

Tuesday...Like it, Love it, GOTTA HAVE IT!

I really really really really really really want one of these!
Isn't it just the cutest thing?

Can't you just imagine all the amazing things you can do with this bike?
Like ride into town and get some flowers for your crystal vase that sits right in the middle of your kitchen window.
Or put your daughter in the back and pack a picnic lunch and surprise your husband at work!

See?   Now I just NEED this bike.
I already have things to do with it!

Here's the issue:

AHHHHH!!!!!   Did you see that price hiding down in the bottom right corner?
In the words of my dad..."Want in one hand..."

Something Super:  Getting adjusted by the chiropractor today!  GO!  Its amazing!
Something Rotten:  Leaving the milk out while at the chiropractor.  Stinky!

MONKEY MONDAY

I know this is supposed to be wordless "Monkey Monday" but I guess it's my blog and I can break the rules.  HAHA!  I just love this picture.  My hubby looks hot and my baby has her tongue out.  The picture is perfection for me.

Something Super:  Alanna learned two new signs.
Something Rotten:  I spilled coffee on the couch.

Friday Funnies

A couple of days ago we were having lunch at a local place.  A really good local place!

Alanna was in her high chair eating and a little boy approached her and reached out his hand to touch her face.   His mom came over, with a second boy, and stopped him. (thank goodness!)

She then looked at me and said "my boys asked if they could come and pet the baby."
Have a happy weekend everyone!!

Something Super: Alanna started saying "I love you".
Something Rotten:  I had to do 3 loads of laundry today.

Thoughts for Thursday...

So this post may be totally random today.

#1 - Teen Mom Finale.  I cried.
I really hope MTV does an update on these girls.

#2 - Found out today my dog has arthritis.
Can I put icy hot on a dog?!?

#3 - My child licked the chair at the vet's office.  EWW!
Who needs a flu shot when you can get it all naturally?!?

#4 -  Alanna stood up in the bath tonight and tooted and then laughed and sat back down.
How do babies know this is funny?!?
#5 - My birthday is coming!  YAY!

Good thing I warned you this post would be random.
It was.

Something Super: The rain today brought in some colder weather.
Something Rotten:  Having to buy medicine for my dog.

"What I love Wednesday"

There are two things that make my life so much easier right now.  I want to share them with you so your life can be easier too!

First up....the munchkin spill proof snack cup.
Alanna is in the "I do it" stage and this allows her to feed herself without making a huge mess.  You can find them at your nearest Target.  I love this cup!

Second item....is the Nalgene sippie cup.

This is the only sippie cup that I have tried that truly doesn't leak.  These are slightly more expensive than the other brands...ok...a lot more....but they are SO worth it!  We own 4 of them.  I love this cup!

So there you have it folks.  The key to happiness is having two good cups!  HAHA!  Have a happy Wednesday.
P.S. I have a funny story, but I'm waiting to share it until my
"Friday Funnies" post.
Be sure to check back!

Something Super: My birthday is coming!
Something Rotten: Packing again.

Terrific Tuesday!!

We had the best day today!!!  We went to the chiropractor for the first time and Alanna and I got adjusted.
I feel amazing!  Alanna did so good too.  We love Dr. Mike!

I also got some new shoes.
Listen to me...seriously the best shoes on Earth!
You have to try them.  I'm serious.  Go RIGHT now.
At least google them.

They are called Vibrams' Five Fingers and they are made to feel like being in your bare feet.
A. MAZ. ING.

Lastly, if you have not tried a Zumba class, you need to do it soon.
It's a Latin dance inspired, cardio workout.
Go to www.zumba.com to find a class in your area.  It's SO worth it.
EVEN BETTER....going in your new Vibram's shoes!

MONKEY MONDAY

It's 10/10/10!

Happy 10/10/10 to everyone!

Tomorrow will be "Monkey Monday" and I will only post pics of my Monkey.  No words.
Most days I have a lot of things to say.  Just not on Mondays.
Mondays consist of coffee, dishes, coffee, laundry, coffee, short nap, and more coffee.
Tuesday will be better.

Something super:  Going to lunch with Mamaw today.
Something rotten: Gaining a pound today. =(
