Friday Funnies:

#1 - Alanna sees this plant and says "WOW!  I didn't know pineapples grew up from the ground like that!"
#2 - While at a doctor's appointment, Alanna looks up and says "They have such a fancy ceiling here!"  She even commented on it to the doctor when she came in.  Haha.

Father Daughter Dance:

She was so excited to get to wear a "flower bracelet"!!!  She even wore it to Walmart the next day and to the park the day after that.  Haha.

She told me before she left, that she felt like a real princess.  This is probably my favorite picture from the  whole night.  Doesn't she just look older than 4 here?!?
Alanna and her best friend, Sarah.
So sweet.

Dualing Dinner:

As soon as Cie-J walked in the door from work, Alanna requested that they play "the monkey game" together.  It's a silly app that Cie-J downloaded and now has all of us hooked on.  You basically team up to pop as many balloons as you can.  The way you pop them is by buying monkeys that throw darts.  Thus the reason why Alanna calls it "the monkey game". (more than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure)

They sat on the couch and played while I was finishing up dinner.  I put our plates on the table and sat down.  Their round wasn't over.  I went and made us all a drink.  They still weren't done.  We make it a rule to not watch TV or do anything at dinner time.  But.....they HAD to win at the monkey game!!  I was just cracking up watching them eat and play.  Alanna couldn't even take her eyes away for a second!

Daddy's Makeover:

Cie-J has mint green and sparkly purple toes now.  He secretly loves to get his toes painted, so he usually lets Alanna do it whenever she asks. =)  He also doesn't read my blog...haha!

This picture is just so crazy for several reasons...
I was soaking in a relaxing bath while this great make over was happening.  All of a sudden, everyone barges in to show me what had been happening outside the door.  Alanna had taken some of my eye shadow (!) and a brush (!) and "painted" daddy's face.  They were both so proud of what they did and all I wanted was a twenty minute bath.  HAHA!  This picture is in my master bath and I was taking the picture from the tub!  Oh the life of a mom!

Willow Tree:

There is a small nook in my stairway where I display my Willow Tree people.  The other day I was walking up the stairs and found them like this. =)  Alanna said they needed a house, and a house has a bathtub, a couch, and a vanity in it.  The ladder was to go upstairs, of course!

Friday Funnies:

Alanna said "Mom, let's put clips in our hair and put it over our faces and take a picture so you can blog about it!"  HAHAHA!  She's so silly.  Sometimes she tells me to put things on Facebook too.
Such a different generation.

Kindergarten:

In case you were wondering....this is what Kindergarten curriculum looks like for home school. TWO huge, heavy boxes!
It was like Christmas all over again at our house today.  We both sat in the floor and opened the boxes and looked at all our new stuff for over an hour!!  Alanna said "Mommy, I am SO excited to start kindergarten!  Can we just start now?"

Deployment, Angels, and Alanna:

I have a college friend that is married to a Marine.  He deployed about a month ago. (for the third time)  Every night we pray for Mr. Elder and all the troops to be protected and safe.  Alanna asked me one night WHY they need to be safe.  It was really sad that I had to explain the concept of war to a four year old.  Alanna asked if Mr. Elder has any kids.  I told her that yes, he has two little girls.  She asked me if they were sad that their daddy was gone.  I told her that they most likely were and that we should pray for them too.  She then lit up and said "I have a great idea!  I can write them a letter to tell them that I pray for their dad and that angels are protecting him!"
Sweet sweet girl.
The next day, I ordered a book that a friend of mine and her son wrote (Daddy's Deployment) while his dad was deployed to send to Mr. Elder's girls, and Alanna drew a picture of men and women holding guns in the war and a big angel with wings over the top of them.  It was amazing!  Together, we packed it up and sent it to our friends.

I love that this girl has such a tender heart for others.
I am proud that she wanted to encourage Mr. Elder's family by sending them a package.
I am thankful that our Father God DOES in fact send His angels to stand watch over us.

Psalm 91:11
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways..."
